Brierley Hill and Dudley this morning secured a fine victory against Coventry in the West Midlands Final with 2 late goals. BH & D went in 1-0 down at half time after a poor first half performance during which only Scott Keys threatened the Coventry goal with a glancing header that went just wide.
In the second half BH & D fought back and after a close opening 15 minutes started to press for an equaliser. Sam Elwell was denied by the Coventry keeper from close range after latching onto a Scott Mears cross.
At the other end Haydn Whitcombe made a crucial save, tipping over a shot from close range. The equaliser came shortly after with Mears scoring a wonder goal, turning outside the box and unleashing a right footed curling shot into the top corner.
Shane Bennett was then the hero for the second consecutive game, scoring another winning goal in the final minutes by rounding the keeper and finishing from an acute angle. George Reeves and Scott Keys were outstanding in central defense, assisted by Callum Billington at full back.
