U12 West Midlands League

Brierley Hill & Dudley 5-0 Wolverhampton

BH&D made a positive start to their U12 league campaign with a convincing 5-0 home win against Wolverhampton.  In a first half dominated by the home side, BH&D opened the scoring after ten minutes when the outstanding Daniel Durman’s defence splitting pass found Alex Fletcher who beat his man and calmly slotted home for 1-0. Fletcher was a continual threat down the right wing and a second was soon added when Niall Clarke latched onto a pass from Lewis Ralston and finished superbly, left footed into the corner.  Ralston himself then notched the third, scoring directly from a corner.

In the 2nd half BH&D continued to press for more goals and were rewarded with a fourth when Jack Kelly, captaining the side, curled in a left footed free kick from 25 yards.  Substitutes Shaquille Edwards and Luke Millichip combined smartly with 10 minutes to go with Millichip smashing the ball home from a tight angle to make the final score 5-0.  Kyle Bates was excellent up front and deserved a goal, Mark Ganderton expertly anchored midfield and Kieran Price, Jake Cartwright & Josh Clift were all outstanding in defence. Goalkeepers James Whittingham & Mark Bradley had little to do in terms of saves but provided excellent distribution throughout, with substitutes Liam Snape, Shaquille Edwards and Luke Millichip all significantly contributing from the bench.

This was an outstanding performance from all players and a fantastic start to the season.

 UNDER 14's West Midlands League

Cannock & District  2-2 Brierley Hill & Dudley
Saturday 8th November at Codsall

BH&D made a fast start to the game versus unbeaten Cannock District, and after some good possession and chances, BH&D fell behind to a break away goal. The score then increased for Cannock with a neat finish to make it 2-0, this was harsh on BH&D who deserved a goal themselves before the break. At with 1 minute to go, Alistair McCue scored his first district goal to give hope going into the interval, with a smart turn and low finish.

The second half was a tight affair with both teams knowing the next goal would be crucial and after some lovely football, Brad Lewis went through on goal to finish with a stunning low drive. In the end Cannock were holding on and the BH&D players were disappointed not to have secured a well-deserved win. Mr Thomas heaped massive praise on the lads saying “the lads were asked to do a job today, I wanted them to play attacking football and show that we are a quality side playing some good football and most of all that they are enjoying themselves. It was a pleasure to see them grow in confidence by dictating the game against a very good side, well done all!”

UNDER 13'S ESFA NATIONAL CUP - Round 2
Brierley Hill & Dudley 0    -    1   West Bromwich

WEST MIDLANDS UNDER 11'S INTER-ASSOCIATION 7-A-SIDE

This Competition, played at Oak Meadow Primary School was run on a league basis with the top two teams playing in the Final.  Brierley Hill & Dudley met Solihull in the Final - a repeat of the 2007 Final - The Final was another closely contested game with neither team managing to score the illusive goal to give them victory in either normal nor extra time.  (Again a repeat of the 2007 Final).  Solihull, as they were in 2007, won the County Title on penalties (3-2) and now go on to represent the West Midlands in the all-Midland Championships to be staged at Nottingham later in the season.
