Tudor Grange , Alderbrook, Bishop Walsh & Hodge Hill into Finals

Tudor Grange U12s

Tudor Grange ran out comfortable and deserved winners in their U12 Birmingham Cup semi final against Park Hall. Tudor Grange with a strong first half wind behind them, started the stronger, only to be denied by Park Hall man of the match keeper Alex King early on. Against the run of play Harry Sweeney gave Park Hall the lead with a sweetly hit free kick from just outside the box. The pressure on the Park Hall defence eventually told as Jake Smith scored a deserved equaliser after a quick counter attack and minutes later a 2 - 1 lead when a corner was met by Eb Ebdon. In the second half as Park Hall committed extra men forward in search of an equaliser, Tudor Grange exploited the extra space and created a host of chances that would have killed the game off. A series of outstanding saves and last ditch tackles kept Park Hall in the game until with 10 minutes left Tudor Grange scored a third through Cameron Ford after a fluffed clearance by the Park Hall keeper. An own goal by centre back Sam Job gave Tudor Grange their fourth goal to book their place into the final.

In the other U12 semi final Alderbrook school ran out comfortable 5 - 0 winners against Arden School. This was a very entertaining and competitive game. Alderbrook took the lead through Josh Ratcliffe, who came in at the back post to score. Soon after Arden were awarded a penalty, which was well saved by keeper Harvey Ainsworth and Alderbrook went in at the break leading 1 - 0. In the second half both team continued to play good football but a flurry of goals from Alex Prosser, Daniel Whitehouse and a second from Josh Ratcliffe put Alderbrook in control. Late in the game, Josh Ratcliffe hit another to get his hat trick and secure an impressive 5-0 victory

The U12 Travel Trophy final will be played on Wednesday 6th April 2011  @ West Midlands Travel Ground k.o. 4:15 Wheelers Lane,B13 0ST

In the U13 George Welford Federation Cup Bishop Walsh gained a place in the final with a    2 – 1 victory against favourites Tudor Grange. Tudor Grange started well and had much of the ball early on and created a great chance which flashed past the post. Midway through the first half, Harry Biddle set up Reuben Esien to score, giving Tudor Grange a 1- 0 lead at half time. In the second half Bishop Walsh made key substitutions and it was one of these substitutes Joe Gildea who prodded home Bishop Walsh’ equaliser with a few minutes to go. Tudor Grange piled on the pressure but were unable to turn chances into goals and the game went into extra time. The game turned in the first half of extra time. Dominic Cotter tipped a shot onto the post and the ball ran agonisingly across the goal for Tudor Grange to hit the other post before being cleared by centre back Matt Bishop. From the resulting clearance, the ball was released up field and super work from Harry Ellis on the left flank saw the ball  being moved to Joe Gildea, who powered home what was to the winning goal.

In the other semi final Hodge Hill beat Turves Green 3 – 0 with goals from Dante Bell and Toye Akinoso (2) to set up an all Aston,Erdington & Saltley final, a repeat of last year’s district final.
