Sweeney Stunner Sinks Halesowen
U15 Team
The U15's got back to their winning ways with a good all round team performance against Halesowen and Stourbridge, following their recent disappointing 4-2 defeat to Solihull in the West Midlands league.
After dominating the opening stages of the game the team went 1 - 0 ahead through a goal keeping error handling a speculative cross by Malachi Farquarson.
Halesowen came back strongly but the E & S defence stood firm, well marshalled by Jack Hulin.
Marvis Mavitubi
In the second half Malachi Farquarson scored again thanks to good interpassing and link up work with Pete Bannister and newcomer Marvis Mavitubi. The game was then put beyond doubt when Douglas Sweeney hit a thirty yard left foot rocket into the top left hand corner of the Halesowen goal. A creditable performance by all.
The U14's unfortunately lost 1 - 0 to West Bromwich after dominating much of the game. The inability to score cost them dearly with West Brom snatching the only goal of the game towards the end of the second half. However it was another good battling performance especially in view of the fact that four of the team dropped out at short notice!
