U12's Back To Winning Ways

Erdington & Saltley U12s

Declan Rigby

Erdington U12's met Kings Norton & South Birmingham in the West Midlands league, a game in which they dominated from start to finish. Erdington went ahead midway through the first half due to quick thinking by Dominic Oliver (Plantsbrook) who hit the ball into an empty net from twenty five yards with the goal keeper out of position. Kings Norton could not cope with the pace of the Erdington forwards and it was no surprise when further goals were scored through Declan Rigby (PB), Alex Reid (Fairfax) 2 and Ricardo Swaby (College High). Kings Norton eventually scored a consolation goal in the latter stages of the game but the result was never in doubt with Erdington wiining by 5 - 1.  This was another good all round team performance.

  Steve Hayles

The U13's were not so successful against a strong and more physical  Kings Norton & South Birmingham side in the second round of the divisional trophy. Deprived of the services of forward  Shaqil MacDonald, the side held their own and were unlucky to go 1 - 0 down before half time with the goal coming from the penalty spot. Chances were created but Erdington did not have anyone to put the ball into the net. As Erdington pressed forward in the second half Kings Norton went further ahead and eventually ran out winners by 4 - 0. Much can be taken from this Erdington performance with Rob Fearn (Castle Vale)

Rob Fearn

outstanding in defence, Corey Anderson (Plantsbrook) and Steven Hayles (St Edmund Campion) creating many problems for Kings Norton down the left flank and Jamie Eagles (Bishop Walsh) battling performance in the centre of mid field.

The U14's met with a similar fate in their round two divisional cup match against Coventry. With their first choice keeper Jordan Arnett (Arthur Terry)  playing for the county and second choice Matt Lloyd  unavailable, at short notice,  Jahiral Alam (Washwood Heath) made his debut in goal. Erdington went 1 - 0 down from the penalty spot and were 2 - 0 by half time. After an inspiring half time team talk Erdington came back very stongly. However, James Cosgrove (Plantsbrook), who put in an outstanding performance in mid field. unfortunately missed a penalty and this was the turning point of the game. As Erdington tired, Coventry scored two more goals to win 4 - 0. Mention should be made of Luke Humpherson (John Willmot)  who made an encouraging debut in the heart of the Erdington defence.
