SHEAR(ER) MAGIC

Luke
The U15s took on West Bromwich Schools in round three of the National competition at Washwood Heath. Once again the team were slow to get going and soon found themselves 1 - 0 down. Erdingtion fought their way back into the game and pushed players forward in the second half in search of an equaliser. Their efforts were finally rewarded with Luke Shearer scoring with minutes to go. In extra time Shearer got his second from the penalty spot and this proved to be the winner in a very exciting game. They now await to see who their opponents are in round four which is due to be played on 6th December
At U12 level Captain Ali Brauns lead out his side for their first home game of the season against Nuneaton after a narrow defeat to Coventry last month. Erdington started the brighter of the two sides but failed to create any real chances in a first half kicking into the wind. The back four were never really in any danger , but Sean Flanaghan was on hand to deal with any shots from distance.

Declan
The half ended 0-0, a scoreline which reflected the amount of play in the middle of the park. Erdington made one change at half time with Andrei Benjamin coming on for the injured Kamari Edmede. Andrei soon made the subsitution pay dividends when he finished from just inside the penalty area after some excellent work from Connor Ceasar and Declan Sullivan respectively. Erdington contiuned to dominate the second half, playing some very good, fast flowing football that Nuneaton were unable to cope with. The second goal came 5 minutes later when Declan Sullivan turned inside the area and rolled the ball into the far corner after some excellent work by Connor Ceasar on the right wing.
Erdington dominated the rest of the second half with Remi Bell and Ali Brauns again outstanding at the back. Ben Hurdman and James Price looked comfortable at right and left back respectively and both were on hand with some excellent passing and tackling when required.
Harry Atkins made a good impact on the game hitting the bar with a 35 yard free kick, before putting some excellent balls through to the strikers in the closing minutes.
A special mention must go to Remel Cockett, Kane Donald and Peter Davie who were outstanding in the middle of the park and allowed the wingers to make a big impact on the game. Erdington look to have developed a good understanding with each other in just two games played and can know look forward to gaining revenge in their cup game against Coventry on the 6th December.
At U13 level, Erdington also played West Bromwich in a West Midlands league game but were not so successful at the 15's, losing 3 - 2 in a game they deserved to have won.
Erdington started brightly against an in form and strong West Bromwich side and they were rewarded by a goal through Devante Venables who was a constant threat throughout the game. West Bromwich pace up front caught the Erdington defence out to level the score just before half time.
Erdington again took the lead early in the second half but questionable decisions, within the space of two minutes, saw West Bromwich take an undeseved lead which they managed to hold onto until the end of the game. Certainly much can be taken from this vastly improved performance against a high flying side! The U13s now meet another in form side, Wolverhampton, next Saturday and hopefully luck willl turn in their favour.
