Honours Even In a Thriller

E&S U12s fought from behind to earn a deserved draw in an exciting encounter against Wolverhampton district. E&S did not get off to the best of starts and found themselves 3-0 down inside the first 20 minutes. Two 25 yard strikes and a penalty saw the visitors take, what appeared to be, an unassailable lead.To E&S's credit, they fought back. A string of fine saves by the Wolverhampton goalkeeper kept E&S at bay until inevitably they scored just before half time through Marcel Richards.                                                                                                                                    After the break, E&S came out strong, scoring again with their first attack of the half to put them well back into the game. Further chances were created with Erdington playing some great flowing football. However, Wolverhampton scored again on the break. With the crowd roaring them on and lead by captain Jacob Roberts, E&S pressed forward and  Luke Bennett and Sharmar Campbell scored two well deserved goals to level the score.                                        At 4-4 E&S U12s looked the stronger side and could've gone on to win the game. Credit must go to the entire team who displayed excellent determination, drive and comittment to maintain their unbeaten start to the season.Erdington U14s met high flying Kings Norton & South Birmingham in the divisional cup. Things looked ominous when, due to late withdrawals, E&S only had eleven fit players but they put in another solid committed workmanlike ' never say die performance' and were unlucky to lose 3 - 2. E&S took the lead following two successive corners through Ryan Perlic. Kings Norton quickly replied when they managed to scramble the ball over the line. Ryan Perlic then scored with a tremendous left footed volley from outside of the box to make the score 2 - 1 at half time. Erdington found themselves under great pressure in the second half but to their credit they closed down their opposition never giving them time to settle with Liam Kinsella and Dan Earl outstanding in midfield. Kings Norton then equalised when a long range shot took a wicked defelection and quickly scored again to make the final score 3 -2 . Certainly E&S deserved more from the game. Special mention should be made of Tom Gallagher who had another outstanding match in the heart of the Erdington defence.

The U15s travelled to Telford in the West Mids league. Telford took an early lead following their first corner but E&S quickly equalised through Connor Doyle. Despite having much of the play, Erdington were undone by two Telford set pieces and found themselves 3 - 1 down at half time. Despite dominating the second half,  Erdington were unable to turn their dominance into goals and were left refelecting on their missed chances.
